What is Books on the LRT?

Keep your eyes peeled for Books on the LRT!

The goal of Books on the LRT is to promote a love of reading and to make the experience on public transportation more engaged, friendly, and enjoyable. We drop books on the LRT, on ETS buses, and in surrounding areas for Edmontonians to take, read, and return for others to enjoy.

Books on the LRT is a current project of Global Shapers Edmonton, a volunteer initiative of the World Economic Forum. We partner with authors and publishers to share their books, and collaborate with other non-profit organizations, local businesses and community groups.

How do I find a book?

Keep an eye out for this sticker! It’s on the cover of all Books on the LRT books.

In addition, book drops are shared on social media. We often give clues as to where the books will be or have been dropped. If you’ve found a book, we’d love to know – go ahead and and tag us (@booksonthelrtyeg) and use the hashtag #booksontheLRT!

Can I keep the book?

We encourage you to pick up the book and take it with you so you can read it at home or the next time you’re commuting. To make sure that as many people as possible get to enjoy Books on the LRT, we ask that you return the book to any LRT station or train when you’ve finished reading it.

I’m an author/publisher/bookstore/library/business/non-profit – how can I get involved?

Contact us! We’d love to discuss a potential collaboration.
